About

The Agreement on Sub-Regional Arms Control, which stipulates a reduction of arms above agreed limits, was signed in Florence on 14 June 1996 by the five Parties: the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Republic of Croatia, the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Republika Srpska.

By the end of the reduction period on 31 October 1997, nearly 6,600 armament units had been destroyed - almost two thirds within Bosnia and Herzegovina alone. They included:

  • over 700 battle tanks and 80 armoured combat vehicles
  • nearly 60 combat aircraft
  • more than 5,700 artillery pieces
