SARAJEO, 09 February 2026 - The OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina (Mission) condemns the 7 February 2026 attack on the editor-in-chief of the Spin info portal, Sanja Vasković, which interfered with her ability to work freely as a journalist.

This physical assault, including the seizure of Ms. Vasković’s mobile phone, constitutes a serious breach of media freedom. Journalists must be able to record, document and report freely without fear of violence, intimidation or obstruction.

The Mission calls on the competent authorities, including law enforcement agencies and prosecutors, to ensure journalists’ safety and conduct thorough investigations into all incidents, ensuring that the legal qualifications reflect their gravity. Authorities should further denounce all attacks against journalists, hold perpetrators accountable, and safeguard media working in the public interest, in line with the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, domestic law and international standards, including Ministerial Council Decision No. 3/18 on safety of journalists.

The Mission will continue to support authorities and other stakeholders in safeguarding the safety and work of journalists, which is essential for upholding the rule of law, public trust and the long-term stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
