SARAJEVO, 04 December 2025 - The OSCE Mission to BiH (Mission) calls on public and elected officials to refrain from statements that expose individuals to undue pressure, risk of further targeting, or acts of hostility.

Journalists and activists must be able to carry out their professional activities without fear of retaliation. The work of officials and public institutions, including plans and activities in urban planning and public administration, are legitimate subjects of media reporting. The media have the right and a responsibility to inform citizens about matters of public interest. At the same time, public officials are obligated to communicate information in a factual and respectful manner, free of statements or accusations that may put journalists or activists at risk.

The Mission will continue to monitor media freedom and civic space in the country, and to support institutional efforts to improve the safety of journalists and activists.
