Human rights

The Mission works to advance understanding of and respect for human rights.

Overview

The Mission supports the promotion and protection of human rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina through monitoring, advocacy and capacity-building activities, focusing on three main areas: fundamental freedoms, economic and social rights, and the rights of Roma and other minorities.

Under fundamental freedoms, the Mission works to align laws with international standards, supports freedom of expression, religion and peaceful assembly, and protects journalists and human rights defenders. In economic and social rights, it enhances access to social services and housing for vulnerable groups through advocacy and professional training. For Roma and minorities, the Mission aids in the development of inclusive local policies, advocates for improved legal frameworks, and collaborates with national minority councils to strengthen political participation and rights realization.
